These investments strengthen partnerships to scale low-cost Direct Air Capture for permanent carbon removal and low-carbon fuels. They build on commitments from Mitsubishi, Mitsui, MOL Switch, and Japan Airlines.
The legislature passed SB 840 and AB 1207 to extend the program, create a climate technology capital fund, and integrate durable removals into carbon markets.
The Fund can purchase up to 500,000 tons of CDR for sustainable aviation fuel or permanent storage, and also made an equity investment in Heirloom.
